Integration agnostic retail logistics

If you sell or make large and bulky goods for consumers your delivery operation needs to work smoothly with the systems your business already uses. With XDP, we make it easy. From WMS (Warehouse Management Systems), ERP software, eCommerce platforms, CRM or custom tools, customers can connect to XDP to help automate deliveries and improve your operations. An integration-agnostic approach means the technology layer of our big and bulky home delivery service can connect with virtually any retail system, regardless of vendor, technology, or deployment model. Whether you’re using: Legacy on-premises applications Modern cloud platforms Industry-specific software Custom-built systems API-first solutions. Our goal is to enable data and processes to flow freely between them.

Why integrate?

A lot of retailers still rely on manual processes to create deliveries, print labels and share tracking information.

This can mean:

  • extra admin work
  • dispatch delays
  • data errors
  • low tracking visibility
  • increased operating costs

By integrating directly to carriers like XDP, your delivery information moves automatically between systems, reducing manual work and improving accuracy.

Systems XDP Integrates with

A range of business platforms connect to XDP including:

  • Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software
  • eCommerce platforms
  • Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems
  • Order Management Systems (OMS)
  • Custom-built software
  • Legacy business systems

You can also integrate XDP with popular platforms such as Metapack, Mintsoft and many more software providers.

Types of Integrations Methods

API (Application programming interface)

The most popular option for integrating is with an API integration.

An API allows your software to directly communicate with XDP in real time.

XDP supports both XML and JSON data formats.

Benefits of API include:

  • automated consignment creation
  • real-time delivery updates
  • faster processing
  • reduced errors
  • improved customer experience
  • easy to scale with growth

CSV Upload

The most manual solution can be CSV (Comma separated values) uploads where businesses export shipping data from their own system into a CSV file.

The portal then creates the consignments automatically, allowing users to generate and print shipping labels in the same way as manually entered consignments.

SFTP (Secure file transfer protocol)

This method is the least popular and most likely used with older systems that cannot support API integration but at XDP we still offer this as it is an integration method.

SFTP integration is essentially an automated version of the CSV upload method. Instead of manually uploading files through a web portal, customers upload a CSV file containing their consignment data to a secure folder. Our system regularly monitors this folder and automatically processes any new files that are uploaded.

Warehouse Management System (WMS) Integration

With over 65% of warehouses globally using a WMS, to manage stock and warehouse operations, this integration method is on the rise.

Benefits include:

  • real-time inventory visibility
  • faster order fulfilment
  • automatic label generation
  • improved warehouse efficiency
  • enhanced delivery tracking

This is particularly valuable for businesses shipping furniture, home improvement products, appliances, and other bulky goods, where deliveries often involve oversized items, specialist handling, and scheduled delivery windows.

By connecting to XDP, businesses can automate delivery processes, improve tracking visibility, reduce administration, and scale operations more efficiently as shipment volumes grow.

Future-proof your deliveries

Technology changes over time, and your systems should be able to evolve with them. An integration-agnostic approach makes it easier to introduce new applications, upgrade existing systems, and adapt to changing business requirements, all while maintaining seamless connectivity.

Connecting your existing systems to XDP can help automate order processing, reduce manual administration, improve data accuracy, provide greater delivery visibility, and enhance customer communication. Whether you’re a furniture retailer, kitchen manufacturer, bathroom supplier, DIY retailer, building materials merchant, appliance distributor, or e-commerce business, our flexible integrations approach makes it easy to add new systems, launch new sales channels, and increase delivery volumes without disrupting day-to-day operations. The result is a more efficient supply chain, lower operational costs, and a delivery network that’s ready to support future growth.
